I enjoy writing, design, photography, creativity, and education.
A few highlights of my path so far….
I love helping others design, write, communicate, and create.
Published Writer and Designer
I’ve written for various commercial publications (CreativePro, Layers, American Fitness, etc.) and academic publications (Journal of Media Ethics, Encyclopedia of Journalism, etc.). I’ve designed logos, websites, and other content for various companies, individuals, and non-profit organizations.
University Professor
I have developed numerous popular programs and courses at SEU and have developed and taught courses for other schools such as Rosemont College (as part of the New York Times Knowledge Network) and the Sant’Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy (in partnership with Jacksonville University).
Successful Graduates
Graduates of the programs and courses I have developed have become award-winning graphic designers, web designers, investigative journalists, social media strategists, digital marketers, public relations specialists, and other professionals in the fields of communication and design.
Professional Experience in the Communication & Design Fields
I’ve worked as internet development director at an award-winning adverting design agency, layout designer and proofreader at a regional newspaper, web designer at a regional newspaper, web designer and tech librarian at a city library system, and managing editor of two graphic design magazines. This has informed my courses and work.
Educator and Guide
My experience in teaching at the university level has informed initiatives and projects I lead, such as developing popular courses on Udemy, which has led to over half a million students so far. This allows students across the world access to helpful instruction in the areas of design and communication. I was also on the first Udemy Instructor Board in 2016.
Good Creative Academy
I’m the founder of Good Creative Academy, an initiative to enroll students in helpful, high-quality courses in the areas of design and communication.
